Moon River

I finally completed a piece for the theme challenge offered at The Artist Challenge - and I barely got it in on time, but I just checked, and it's there -
woo hoo!

I had this post all written as a failed submission to deadline, so now I'm happy to say I'm in and you might enjoy checking out the other Moon River submissions here!

(painted on an 8"x8"x2" gesso board, shadow box)

  2. Ooooh, this is so beautiful...I love the detail as well - it could be a piece on its own. Glad you made the challenge with this magnificent Moon River.

  4. Blue blue...reminds me of the blue post I did a while ago...running through countless associations with the color...something you do here with the color itself instead of words...

  5. Karin, this piece is so beautiful, I love the moon on the third eye, so beautiful and feminine and to me she seems to be drinking the cool moon river! Is this substrate a shadow box? I really love it! xo
ps I just want to smoochy kiss those wonderful hands of yours that create so much beauty and give me so much pleasure!

  6. Thank you Robyn!! I imagined submerging myself, into the cool waters, by the light of the moon as i painted it, and really enjoyed the process!

Thanks Kim, I don't think I would have come up with it without the prompt, which is the beauty of challenges, isn't it?!

    thank you GyPsY!!

Hi Jay, yes - that's right, I remember your blue post. It is a color that can move us in different directions, and for me it is very soothing and peaceful, as I tried to convey in this themed piece.

Yes Cat - you have perfectly described how I hoped to portray her; taking in the watery essence and being a part of the moon energy by resonating it through her third eye, melding the nature and human together... thank you for seeing what I was hoping to say! Yes also, it is done on a shadow box. I'll add that info to the image in the post! and thank you for your smooches :) Back at you!!

  9. Actually I love the way the moon intersects with the head, suggesting some form of light reaching into dark places. Least, that's what I see...

  13. Hi, goofball ;-) [I just read your latest post to me, tee hee]

This one absolutely rivets me ... Serenity floods in on the colours. Gorgeous. You create so much beauty, Karin!!

Have you ever heard Lori Cullen sing "Moon River"? Check out on YouTube ... Her version swings softly, sadly, slooowly, like the song "Summertime" ...

    xoxoxoxoxox :-)

    Thanks, you beauty-bringer :-)
