moments

I have been unable to spend time with my art between storm consequences, out of town visitors, life demands, and round four of chemo (yeah, I've hit the half way point!!).

When I am unable to spend time with my art, I lose some of my serenity, so for a touchstone to peace I have been taking moments to draw in a little book I made a long time ago, and refound just when I needed it...

recent thoughts overwhelm, buzzing in and all around my head.

I find release in drawing.

  4. I have a small notebook that I carry with me...it seems if I do not have the means to write my thoughts down they whir away from brain forever lost. I love the images...very warrior like and extremely strong. God bless and keep you...you are half way through this chapter's messages. Remember all that you have learned. 5. These drawings are great, it would be a pity not to be able to put them down on paper. The notebook seems like a lovely, timely solution and the fact that you have made it yourself makes it all the more special. As are you. Take care and treat yourself kindly x

  6. The greytones of your drawings seem appropriate at this time, but I look forward to seeing all the colours again because it brings 'me' some kinda comfort...How selfish is that! But really, I just wish you to be well and it saddens me that you are in any pain, you that gives so much through your words and art!

    Take care! xox

    A language of the soul.

Did you read the Michelangelo quote that I posted after having a private viewing of his drawings this week...check it out in my most recent post...such a beautiful reminder to us all.

This is stunning art work. The detail in the bird's wings is particularly fine. And I just love your beautiful little journal.

Sending you love and bright wishes and lots of healing as you start the next stage of the journey. xx

  10. Wonderful drawings, Karin. Even with only a grey pen you can express so much, you are really amazing.
I agree with Zoe - the feathers are just incredible!

Congrats to your half way mark, I´m so proud of you! I admire you for always being so positive. You wrote "Yeah, I've hit the half way point!!" That reminded me of the difference of some people. Some say a glass is half full, another one says it´s half empty.
You Karin, you are always seeing things in a positive way and that is why I like you so much!

    Stay strong, you´re an inspiration.
Thinking of you, Tobi and I are sending lots of well wishes and healing power your way.

    xoxo Bettina

  16. I am the opposite but in the same zone- i must have peace before I can draw but to work out frustrations and disharmony I needle felt- I stab! I pound! It is physical - exhausts the pent up energy into form that is usually pleasing. When everything is in order, only then can I draw- and that takes me into a whole nuther dimension. Your little book is awesome, as usual. Love the bird especially.

  22. Thanks Svasti, it is a little square of comfort! ♥

thank you Dr J, will do :)

I really let myself get lost in those feathers Zoe, glad you like them!

Hi Mary, when it comes to writing my problem is I end up with too many little notebooks of thoughts flitting about, so they get lost in other ways - but drawing books seem to remain more constant and steady!

Thank you Penny, and your words are quite special to me. xox

You know Sonia, I thought about using my colored pencils, but they just sat next to me as I worked with my plain old #2 mechanical pencil (no sharpening necessary!) I really love pencil work, but yes, color will return :) xo

Oh, thank you Lyle - I'll take that hug happily
    >-O-<

Thanks D, yes, I love the synchronicity of reading your quote right after i posted my drawings! drawing is such a pure practice...

You are welcome Carol, and thank you for all your caring words and healing messages! xox

Thanks Gypsy, you know I always have to through a little creepy in there for you :)

Thank you Manon! I appreciate your message so much. xox

Hi Gloria, thank you - yes, it really does help, making those creative marks!

I can understand what you mean Linda Sue. I used to use my wood sculpting that way - to release with sawing, sanding, carving - but my body doesn't allow for that kind of release any more. Thankfully I've been able to adjust, or I think I'd go crazy! One way or another, we gotta let it out!!

Hi Sue, yes - woo hoo indeed! thank you thank you for your heartful message! much love, K

That's cute Paige! I'll keep up the noodle doodles :)

Thank you Liz, it's my honor to share these things, and hear back from you and others. Thank YOU! xox

thank you kj, the stories you are collecting are amazing. They bring me to tears still, as I think of Renee, but they are good tears, full of awe. I will write soon. thank you for doing this. love, k

    Thanks to you Seth!

  27. Hello Karin, I hope you are comfortable and as well as can be. I am glad to hear you are on the halfway point. The hope you are far from the flooding. The East Coast has been hammered by bad weather lately. I have been here already and I thought I commented especially that these drawings are awesome. I love the texture. Take care Karin.

  34. The physical reflection one sees in the mirror is not the truth. Your art is a conduit for you to find a way through the layers of illusion. Its kind of like working through the layers of phylo pastry as one eats a spinokopita. At some stage, you reach spinach and feta. For some, the actual flavorful discovery is a curious surprise. You sense it is there somewhere, but tasting it is still a bit of a shock. Another analogy is working your way through the leaves to the heart of an artichoke or peeling away the skins to the centre of the onion. In every case, you sense when you are on the surface and making your way to the crux, the root of the matter. Each journey is a life-transforming process. We are all with you in spriit at every stage. We are the physlo, the spinich, feta, artichoke, onion, paper and all the creative materials you ever use. We are all same energy and source.
